AIIPWorld as a Placid alternative for PDFs from HTML

A short, factual comparison for people who use Placid to make PDFs or images and wonder whether an HTML to PDF API fits instead. Everything we say about Placid comes from its own public pages, with the address and the date we checked next to each fact. Placid works from templates and can also make video; we do not. We have not compared output quality or speed.

AIIPWorld: what we offer

From our own price list and configuration. See pricing for the current version.

  • Free plan: 100 credits per month, no card needed. A simple render costs 1 credit. The free web tools also work without an account.
  • Paid plans (monthly price / credits per month): $19 / 2,750, $59 / 10,000, $149 / 30,000, $299 / 75,000. Yearly billing is 10 times the monthly price. A credit pack is $10 for 1,400 credits that do not expire.
  • A screenshot costs 1 credit; a full page screenshot costs 2 credits for an image up to 5,000 px tall, plus more for taller ones. PDFs over 10 pages and results over 5 MB cost extra credits. Credits for failed jobs are returned. These costs are provisional until launch.
  • API: PDF from HTML or a public web address, and PNG or JPEG screenshots, all with headless Chromium. Jobs are asynchronous (submit, then poll). Results are kept for a limited time and then deleted. Webhooks, templates and a batch endpoint are not available yet.

Reading the two lists side by side

  • Placid works from templates you design in its editor and fill with data. We take finished HTML or a public address, so there is no template editor and no template id.
  • Placid bills per image and per PDF page (2 credits a page). We bill per job, and a simple render is 1 credit. Because the units differ, the two price lists do not convert one-to-one.
  • Placid also makes video; we do not. Our images are PNG or JPEG screenshots of a page.
  • We have not compared rendering quality or speed. Run a few of your own documents through both.

You can try ours without an account in the HTML to PDF tool or the website screenshot tool. The PDF API and screenshot API pages list every option.

Placid is a name of its respective owner. AIIPWorld is not affiliated with it.

Placid alternative: what to compare

If you are looking for a Placid alternative, you are probably choosing between tools for one of two jobs: producing branded images, videos and PDFs from templates, or rendering web pages (HTML or a public URL) into PDFs and screenshots through an API. Placid is built around the first kind of job. AIIPWorld is built around the second. Where the two overlap, this page says so. Where they do not, it says that too.

The facts below come from Placid's own pages (its home page, pricing page and REST API documentation), checked on 2026-10-12. Placid may have changed its pages since then, so check its pricing and docs before you decide. Our credit costs are provisional until launch.

The table above lists the basic facts about Placid. This text covers the differences that matter when you compare the two.

Placid pricing in short

Placid uses credits. One image costs 1 credit. One PDF page costs 2 credits. Every 10 seconds of video costs 10 credits. Previews are free and unlimited, but they are watermarked and meant for testing.

Placid lists four monthly plans: Basic at $19 a month with 500 credits, Pro at $39 a month with 2,500 credits, Business at $89 a month with 25,000 credits, and VIP at $249 a month with 100,000 credits. Its pricing page has a Monthly and Yearly toggle, and it notes "Yearly (save 2 months)." The prices we read were the same under both toggles, so confirm the billing basis on Placid's page before you budget.

Here is plain division on the allowances, not a Placid claim about page output. At 2 credits per PDF page, Basic's 500 credits cover 250 PDF pages a month. Pro's 2,500 credits cover 1,250 pages. Business's 25,000 credits cover 12,500 pages. VIP's 100,000 credits cover 50,000 pages. Images at 1 credit each give 500, 2,500, 25,000 and 100,000 images for the same plans.

Placid states that it has no overage fees. When credits run out, you cannot generate new creatives until you upgrade, though previews still work. It sends an email at 80% use. Unused credits roll over, up to a total of double the monthly allowance. Its free trial needs no credit card and includes "a few complimentary credits," without a stated number.

AIIPWorld bills per job, not per page or per image. A simple render costs 1 credit. PDFs longer than 10 pages cost 1 more credit for every 10 pages. Results larger than 5 MB cost more. Full page screenshots cost more under this rule: A full page screenshot costs 2 credits for an image up to 5,000 px tall, plus 1 credit for each further 5,000 px (or part of), up to 16,384 px (5 credits at most). Height is counted in output pixels, so device_scale_factor 2 doubles it. The job is reserved at 2 credits and settled on the real image height.. Because the billing units differ, the two price lists do not map directly onto each other. Estimate your own job counts and page lengths against both pricing pages.

Our plans are: Free with 100 credits a month and no card, Starter at $19 for 2,750, Pro at $59 for 10,000, Business at $149 for 30,000, and Scale at $299 for 75,000. A credit pack of 1,400 credits costs $10 and does not expire. Yearly billing is 10 months of the monthly price. You can see the full details on the pricing page.

Placid vs AIIPWorld: what each does

Placid describes itself as a creative automation toolkit that helps teams produce consistent, on-brand visuals at scale. It lets you generate images, videos and PDFs from dynamic templates. Its visual template editor lets you build custom designs or start from preset designs. Its APIs include an Image Automation API, a PDF API and a Video API. Its docs cover PDF creation, merging, retrieval and deletion, along with authentication, rate limiting and error codes. Its layer types include Text, Picture, Shape, Barcode, Rating and Subtitle. It also offers an Editor SDK for putting the template editor into your own apps, and it lists Zapier and Make as no-code options. Its comparison table names integrations such as Airtable, ChatGPT, Ghost, MCP, n8n, Webflow and WordPress, along with a Mobile SDK. Placid's strength is a template-first workflow: design once, then fill the template with data across images, videos and PDFs.

AIIPWorld is a render API for two job types. A PDF job takes HTML or a public http or https address and returns a PDF. A screenshot job returns a PNG or JPEG. The engine is headless Chromium running in isolated, resource-limited worker containers with a hard timeout. We also run free web tools, including HTML to PDF, URL to PDF and website screenshot, but those are outside this comparison.

Here is what that means in practice:

  • Templates: We do not have a template editor, template IDs or a template-based render. Each request sends its own HTML or URL.
  • Image and video generation from data: We do not have template-based image or video generation. Our images are screenshots (PNG or JPEG) of an HTML page or a public address, and we have no video.
  • Integrations: We do not list no-code integrations, an SDK or a Mobile SDK.
  • Batch and webhooks: We do not have a batch endpoint or webhooks. You poll for job status.
  • Synchronous mode: We do not have one. Every render is asynchronous.
  • PDF and screenshot control: We do have these. PDF options include format, margins, print backgrounds, page ranges, header and footer templates, print CSS media type, wait conditions and a delay. Screenshot options include viewport size, full page capture, clipping, device scale factor from 1 to 3, JPEG quality and transparent backgrounds. We do not support WebP.
  • Rendering pages: JavaScript runs by default. Each job gets a fresh browser context. We have no cookie option, so a page behind a login shows its login screen. We only render public addresses, and private networks are blocked.
  • Failed jobs: Credits for failed and timed-out jobs are returned.
  • Result retention: Results are kept for 1 day on the Free plan, 7 days on Starter and Pro, and 30 days on Business and Scale.
  • Rate limits per minute: Free 30, Starter 60, Pro 180, Business 600, Scale 600.

How to test with your own jobs

Pick five to ten real jobs from your own workload and run them on both services. Use a sample you would actually send, not a demo page. Check these points:

  • Fonts: The render server includes Liberation Sans, Serif and Mono, Noto Sans and Serif, Noto CJK for Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean, Noto Color Emoji and many other Noto scripts. Fonts from your own machine are not installed. For other fonts, load them with @font-face from a public URL or a data URL. Check that your fonts appear as expected.
  • Waiting for the page: Test the wait settings (load, domcontentloaded, networkidle, commit), along with wait_for_selector and delay_ms, which goes up to 10000. Pages that load content late need this.
  • Headers and footers: If you use page numbers, test header_template and footer_template. We support up to 64 KB for each. Page numbers use spans with the classes pageNumber and totalPages.
  • Login pages: If a page sits behind a login, confirm that your test works with a public version of the page. Our render will show the login screen.
  • Error handling: Trigger a bad URL or a slow page. Confirm how each service reports failure, and whether you are charged.
  • Cost for your volume: Multiply your real page counts and image counts by each service's billing rules. Include retries.
  • Timing: Measure the time from submission to a finished file on your own network. Do not rely on any published speed figure. We make no speed claim.

Moving from Placid to AIIPWorld

Moving fits when your work is HTML or URL to PDF or screenshot. If your work depends on Placid templates, a move means rebuilding the design as HTML.

Authenticate with an API key from the dashboard, sent as Authorization: Bearer <key>. The x-api-key header also works. Send a POST to /v1/render on api.aiipworld.com with a JSON body. The body includes html or url, plus output (pdf, png, jpeg, or html for URL jobs) and an options object. The response is 202 with a job_id. Poll GET /v1/jobs/:id until the status is succeeded, failed or timeout. A succeeded job includes a download_url. It is a short-lived signed link, so your app can download the file without an API key. Save the file in your own storage if you need it longer than the retention window.

Map your current settings to our option names: format (A4 is the default), width, height, landscape, margin with top, right, bottom and left (default 10 mm), print_background (default true), scale, page_ranges, prefer_css_page_size, tagged, outline, media (print or screen), and javascript (on by default). Read the PDF guide on print CSS if your layout depends on print styles.

Because we have no templates, batch endpoint or webhooks, your code will need to send each job on its own and poll for the result, or run its own queue.

When Placid may suit you better

Placid may suit you better if your team needs to design visuals in a browser editor and fill them with data. Its visual template editor, preset designs and Editor SDK are built for that workflow. If you need images and videos made from templates, Placid lists an Image Automation API and a Video API, and we offer neither. If you want no-code connections, Placid lists Zapier and Make, and its table names a wider set of integrations, including Airtable, Webflow, WordPress and n8n. Its plans also list unlimited creatives, designs, projects and custom templates on every tier. Placid also includes unlimited previews and free access to its design library on all plans.

When AIIPWorld may suit you better

AIIPWorld may suit you better if you already have HTML or public web pages and want them turned into PDFs or screenshots through a direct API. You can start with the free HTML to PDF tool or the PDF API, and read the API docs before you sign up. The Free plan needs no card.

Questions

Is Placid free to use?

Placid offers a free trial with no credit card and "a few complimentary credits," without a stated number. Its previews are free and unlimited, but they are watermarked and meant for testing. Paid plans start at $19 a month on its pricing page. AIIPWorld has a Free plan with 100 credits a month and no card.

How much does Placid cost compared with AIIPWorld?

Placid lists four monthly plans: Basic at $19 with 500 credits, Pro at $39 with 2,500, Business at $89 with 25,000, and VIP at $249 with 100,000. The two services bill in different units, so there is no direct price match. Placid's credits cover 2 per PDF page. AIIPWorld bills per job, with a simple render at 1 credit, and PDFs beyond 10 pages cost more. Compare your own job counts against both pricing pages.

What is the main difference between Placid and AIIPWorld?

Placid is a template-based toolkit for images, videos and PDFs, with a visual template editor and no-code integrations. AIIPWorld is a render API for PDFs from HTML or public URLs, and for screenshots. We do not have templates, image or video generation, or no-code integrations.

Does AIIPWorld have an API like Placid's?

Yes, for PDFs and screenshots. You send a POST to /v1/render with html or url, output and options. You get a job_id back, then poll GET /v1/jobs/:id until the job finishes, and download the file from download_url. We have no batch endpoint and no webhooks. Placid's API covers images, videos and PDFs from templates.

Can I move my Placid templates to AIIPWorld?

Not directly. We do not support templates or template IDs. To move, rebuild the design as HTML and CSS, then send it to /v1/render. Check the fonts you use, because the render server has its own font set, and load any other fonts with @font-face from a public URL or a data URL.

Can AIIPWorld render pages that need a login?

Not with a login session. We have no cookie option, and each job uses a fresh browser context. A page behind a login will show its login screen. We render public addresses only, and private networks are blocked. Placid's facts do not describe login handling, so test your own case on both services.

Which should I pick if I need both images from templates and PDFs?

Placid covers both in one product. If you need template-based images and videos, Placid is the service to test first. If your need is PDFs and screenshots from HTML or public URLs, test AIIPWorld against your own jobs using the checklist above.
