# SVG to PDF

> A free online tool that converts SVG code or an SVG file into a one-page PDF that keeps shapes and text as vectors.

Convert SVG to PDF with a free web tool. Paste your SVG code or open an .svg file, and get a one-page PDF that matches the size of your drawing. Shapes and text stay vector, and you can choose a white, transparent or coloured background.

## Key facts

- Input: SVG code or an .svg file up to 2 MB; scripts and event attributes are removed in your browser first.
- Output: one PDF page the same size as the drawing (96 CSS pixels per inch), with a white, transparent or coloured background and no margin.
- Text stays selectable and the font is embedded.
- Free without an account: up to 10 conversions per minute and 50 per day per visitor, no watermark. Signed in, each render costs 1 credit (100 free credits every month).
- Files are deleted automatically: 10 minutes after conversion without an account, 1 day with a free account.
- Developers can run the same render with POST https://api.aiipworld.com/v1/render and an API key (see the PDF API page).

## How it works

1. Paste your SVG code into the box, or open an .svg file up to 2 MB from your computer.
2. Check the page width. The page height follows the proportions of your drawing, and together they set the size of the PDF page.
3. Choose a background: white (the default), transparent, or a colour of your choice.
4. Complete the human check if you are not signed in. Signed-in users skip it.
5. Press convert and download the PDF.

## How to convert SVG to PDF

You can convert SVG to PDF without installing software or creating an account. Anonymous use needs a human check, then the tool gives you a PDF to download.

The tool cleans your SVG in the browser and removes scripts and event attributes. The cleaned drawing is then sent to our render server, which prints it to a PDF with headless Chromium, the same browser engine that draws SVG on web pages.

## Vector stays vector

Shapes and text stay vector in the PDF. The drawing is stored as lines, curves and text, not as a picture of it.

We checked this with the sample PDF. It contains no images, and its text can be selected.

Vector output is useful when you print the same drawing at several sizes, because the lines stay sharp at each size.

## Page size

The PDF has one page. Its size equals the width and height of the SVG in CSS pixels. At 96 CSS px to the inch, an SVG 960 px wide gives a page 10 inches wide.

The page has no margin. If you want space around the drawing, add padding inside the SVG before you convert it.

## Background and fonts

The background is white by default. Choose transparent to leave the page unpainted, so the PDF viewer shows its own background. You can also pick a colour.

Text uses the fonts installed on the render server. Fonts from your own computer are not there, so load other fonts with the SVG itself or accept the fallback.

The server includes these families:

- Liberation Sans, Liberation Serif and Liberation Mono
- Noto Sans, Noto Serif and Noto Sans Display
- Noto Sans CJK for Chinese, Japanese and Korean text
- Noto Color Emoji for emoji

## SVG to PDF or SVG to PNG

Use this tool when you need a PDF, for example to print a drawing or to share a file that keeps the drawing as vector.

Use the SVG to PNG tool when you need an image file, for example for a website or a chat message. It sets the output width in pixels, a pixel density of 1x, 2x or 3x, and a transparent, white or coloured background.

In the free SVG to PNG tool, the output height must stay between 100 and 2000 px.

## Limits

The SVG file can be up to 2 MB. Larger files are not opened, so reduce the file size before you convert it.

Each conversion makes one page. Scripts are removed from the SVG before conversion, and external images load only from public http and https addresses.

Results are deleted after 10 minutes, and no history is kept. We add no watermark to your PDF.

## SVG to PDF from code

You can run the same job through the API. Put your SVG markup inside an HTML page, then send it as an html_to_pdf request to POST /v1/render, with your API key in an Authorization: Bearer header. The default page is A4 with a 10 mm margin, so set the width, height and margin in the request to match your drawing.

The API returns 202 with a job_id. Poll GET /v1/jobs/:id until the status is succeeded, failed or timeout, then download the file from download_url. The download link is short-lived. Credits for failed and timed-out jobs are returned.

Webhooks are not available yet, so polling is the way to learn when a job ends. There is no batch endpoint, so send one request per SVG.

## Questions

### How do I turn an SVG into a PDF?

Paste the SVG code or open an .svg file up to 2 MB. Check the page size, choose a background, and complete the human check if you are not signed in. Then download the PDF.

### Is the PDF vector or a picture?

The PDF is vector. Shapes and text stay vector. We checked the sample PDF, which contains no images and has text you can select.

### What size is the PDF page?

The page is one page sized to the SVG width and height. At 96 CSS px to the inch, a 960 px wide SVG gives a page 10 inches wide. The page has no margin.

### Can I convert several SVGs into one PDF?

No. Each SVG becomes its own one-page PDF. The API also takes one request per document, so send one request for each SVG.

### Why is my font different?

The render server has only its own fonts, such as Liberation Sans, Noto Sans and Noto Serif. Fonts such as Roboto or Inter are not there, so the tool uses a fallback font. Embedding the font in the SVG avoids this.

### Can the background be transparent?

Yes. Choose transparent and the PDF leaves the background unpainted, so the PDF viewer shows its own background. The default is white.

### Does it run scripts?

No. The browser removes scripts and event attributes from the SVG before conversion. JavaScript is also switched off for the conversion.

### Can I insert the SVG in an existing PDF?

No. The tool makes a new PDF from one SVG. It does not add the drawing to a PDF you already have.

### How long is the PDF kept?

Results are deleted after 10 minutes, and no history is kept. Download the file when it is ready.

### Do I need an account?

No. The free tool works without an account. Anonymous use needs a human check, and signed-in users skip that check.

### Is there a watermark?

No. We add no watermark to the PDF.

### What is the file size limit?

The SVG file can be up to 2 MB. Files over 2 MB are not opened, so reduce the file size before you convert it.

### How does the tool know the size of my SVG?

It reads the size from the width and height of the SVG, or from its viewBox. The tool shows the size it read before you convert, so you can check it. If you want a different page size, change the page width before you convert.

### What does SVG mean?

SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphics. It is a file format that describes shapes and text with code instead of pixels, so a drawing can be scaled without losing sharpness. The PDF made here keeps shapes and text as vectors.

### Can I open an SVG file in Adobe software?

Adobe Illustrator can open SVG files, and so can many other drawing programs and web browsers. If the person you are sending the drawing to has no program that opens SVG, a PDF is easier to share. Convert the SVG here and the PDF keeps the drawing as vectors.
