# PFP Cropper: Make a Circle Profile Picture

PFP Cropper is a free tool that cuts your picture into a circle for a profile picture. Upload one picture, pick the square you want, and download the result. You can use it for any profile picture that is shown in a round frame.

- Input: one picture up to 5 MB in the free tool and 10 MB when signed in, and up to 16 MP (4096 x 4096); an animated GIF or WebP uses its first frame only.

## How it works

1. Drop one picture into the box, or choose a file. Check the preview and the file size.
2. Under "How to crop", keep "Centered square (default)" or pick "Choose the square area".
3. If you chose the square area, drag the square on the preview, or type Left (x), Top (y), Width and Height in pixels.
4. Choose PNG (default) or WebP under "Save as". For WebP, set the Quality slider.
5. Click "Crop circle" and download your circle picture.

## How to use the PFP Cropper

The PFP Cropper cuts a square from your picture and masks it into a circle. You do not need to resize the picture first. Upload one file, check the preview, and click "Crop circle" when you are ready. The result panel shows the circle picture, its size, what was done and the credits used. Download the file and set it as your profile picture.

## What a pfp is and why a circle

PFP means profile picture. Many sites show profile pictures in a round frame. A circle crop lets you choose what stays visible. The circle keeps the size of the square you cut. Results vary with the picture, so check the preview before you download.

## Choose the square area for your profile picture

The default option takes the largest centered square from your picture. This works well when your subject is in the middle. When the face is off center, choose "Choose the square area" instead. Drag the square on the preview. It stays square, so move it or resize it by a corner. You can also type Left (x), Top (y), Width and Height in pixels of the original. The square must stay inside the picture, or the tool refuses it.

## Discord pfp cropper: what Discord says

If you need a Discord pfp cropper, this page makes the round picture. Discord's help pages (read 2026-10-13) say that user avatars can be PNG or GIF. An animated GIF avatar needs Nitro. A per-server avatar can be JPG, PNG or GIF, up to 8 MB. The Discord pages do not give a pixel size for avatars, so this page does not state one. Check Discord's help pages for the current rules.

This tool works as a circle pfp maker. The corners outside the circle are transparent. PNG and WebP keep that transparency. Where your picture is shown on another site or app, the area around the circle shows that site's background. A round frame hides the corners, so keep the face or logo away from the edges.

## PNG or WebP for a profile picture

PNG is the default and keeps transparent corners. It is lossless, so details stay sharp. WebP is often smaller. In our tests on a 1200 x 800 px drawn portrait, a centered circle was 124 KB as PNG and 23 KB as WebP at quality 90. Results vary with the picture. Test both formats with your own file.

## Size of your profile picture file

The file size of the result depends on the picture and the format. In our tests, a 400 x 400 px circle was 65 KB as PNG, and a 512 x 512 px circle was 36 KB. These measurements were made on pictures we generated, not on real photographs. The result panel shows the file size in KB or MB. KB is 1024 bytes and MB is 1024 x 1024 bytes.

## Profile picture sizes: why this page has no size table

Platforms change their picture rules. We could not confirm official pixel sizes for YouTube, LinkedIn, X (Twitter) or Instagram from their help pages. For that reason, this page has no size table and the tool has no size presets. Check the platform's own help page for the current size. Then resize your downloaded circle with the Resize PNG tool.

## Limits: file size and pixels

Each picture can be up to 5 MB on the free web tool, and up to 10 MB when you are signed in. Each picture can have up to 16 MP (4096 x 4096). A picture over the pixel limit is refused before it is decoded. Failed and timed-out jobs are refunded. A signed-in job has 60 seconds, and an anonymous job has 30 seconds.

## Crop profile picture from code

You can crop a profile picture from code with the image API. Send a POST request to https://api.aiipworld.com/v1/image-jobs?op=image_edit&action=round_corners&shape=circle. Send the raw picture bytes as the body, not JSON or multipart. Set Content-Type to image/png, image/jpeg, image/webp, image/gif, image/avif, image/bmp or image/tiff. Add your API key with Authorization: Bearer `<API key>`, or use x-api-key. The response is 202 with a job_id. Poll GET /v1/jobs/:id until the job is done, then download the result from download_url. One request makes one result. The page shows a ready cURL, Node and Python example below the tool, built from your settings. ## Privacy: what happens to your picture

Your picture is sent to our server and processed there. It is used only to make the result. The working copy is deleted as soon as the job ends, whether it succeeds or fails. The result is deleted after 10 minutes in the free web tool, and download links are short-lived. A record of each job is kept. Signed-in users see their jobs in the dashboard. You must have the right to use the picture you upload, as set out in the Acceptable Use Policy.
