# App Store Screenshot Generator

> A free online tool that places your app screenshot in a plain device frame with a headline and background, and exports a PNG or JPG at an Apple App Store or Google Play size.

This app store screenshot generator makes App Store and Google Play screenshot images in your browser. Type a headline, pick a background, add your app screen inside a plain device frame, and export a PNG or JPG at the pixel size the store asks for.

## Key facts

- Sizes (portrait): iPhone 1290 x 2796, 1320 x 2868, 1284 x 2778, 1242 x 2688; iPad 13-inch 2064 x 2752, 2048 x 2732; Google Play 1080 x 1920 and 1080 x 2160.
- The frame is drawn with plain CSS; no Apple or Google device images are used.
- One image per conversion; no template library, saved projects or batch mode. Store rules change, so check the store before uploading.
- Free without an account: up to 10 conversions per minute and 50 per day per visitor, no watermark. Signed in, each render costs 1 credit (100 free credits every month).
- Files are deleted automatically: 10 minutes after conversion without an account, 1 day with a free account.
- Developers can run the same render with POST https://api.aiipworld.com/v1/render and an API key (see the screenshot API page).

## How it works

1. Choose the size that matches the store you publish to.
2. Type a headline and, if you want, a subheading.
3. Pick a background, a text colour and a frame.
4. Add a picture of your app screen.
5. Export as PNG or JPG, then repeat for each screen and size.

## How to make app store screenshots

Whether you call it an app screenshot generator, an app store screenshots tool or an app screenshot maker, the job is the same. You need images that show your app on a store listing, with a short line of text that explains what the screen does.

This page explains the sizes that Apple and Google ask for, what the tool draws, and how to prepare your screen capture. It also covers the API, if you make screenshots from a build pipeline.

The tool runs in your browser. You do not need Photoshop, Figma or any other design program. The free web tool does not need an account.

## Screenshot sizes for the App Store and Google Play

The sizes below are the portrait pixel sizes that Apple and Google list on their own help pages. They are written as width x height. We read both pages on 2026-10-11. Store rules change, so check the store page before you upload.

For an iPhone screenshot generator, pick one of the Apple iPhone sizes. For Apple, this works as an apple store screenshot generator, and for Google Play it works as a play store screenshot generator. The tool exports these portrait sizes:

- Apple App Store, iPhone: 1290 x 2796, 1320 x 2868, 1284 x 2778 and 1242 x 2688. Source: developer.apple.com/help/app-store-connect/reference/app-information/screenshot-specifications/ (read 2026-10-11).
- Apple App Store, iPad 13-inch: 2064 x 2752 and 2048 x 2732. Apple asks for these if your app runs on iPad. Source as above (read 2026-10-11).
- Google Play, phone: 1080 x 1920 and 1080 x 2160. Source: support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9866151 (read 2026-10-11).

Apple accepts .jpeg, .jpg and .png files. Screenshots cannot include an alpha channel or transparency. Apple also asks for an iPhone size that this tool does not offer, either 1179 x 2556 or 1206 x 2622, so do not treat the presets as meeting that requirement. Check the required sizes in App Store Connect before you upload.

Google Play accepts JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha. Each side must be from 320 to 3,840 px, and the longer side can be no more than twice the shorter side. For 7-inch and 10-inch tablet and Chromebook screenshots, Google Play lists a minimum of four, in 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait with sides from 1,080 to 7,680 px. The sizes in this list are phone sizes, and the tool does not offer the large-screen sizes.

## What the screenshot generator draws

The tool is an ios app screenshot generator and a Google Play one, for store listings. It is not a general design tool. It builds a short HTML page for each image and exports that page with our screenshot engine, which is headless Chromium running in an isolated container.

Each image has a gradient background, a headline, an optional subheading and your screen inside a device frame. You can choose one of four preset backgrounds (indigo-violet, orange-pink, green-blue or dark slate), or two colours of your own. You can set the text colour, place the text above or below the device, and pick a dark frame, a light frame or no frame. You can let the device run off the edge of the image, or fit it fully inside.

The frame is drawn with plain CSS. It is not an Apple or Google device image.

- Output: PNG or JPG, at the size you choose from the list above.
- One image per click.
- No template library, no batch mode for many languages, no panoramic layouts and no saved projects.

## Preparing your app screenshot

Use a real screen from your app, taken from a build that looks the way users will see it. Crop the capture to the screen you want to show, so the part users see first is the part inside the frame. Hide private data such as real names, email addresses and account numbers before you add the picture.

The tool reads your picture in the browser and compresses it to JPEG. It then embeds the picture in the page, so the page stays within the free tool's limit of 256 KB of HTML. Compression can soften fine text in a large image, so look at the export at full size before you upload it.

If you do not add a picture, the tool draws a plain placeholder screen. Use that to test the layout and the text before you add your real screen.

## Writing the headline and subheading

Keep the headline short. Say what the user gets from the app in plain words. Use the subheading for one more detail about the app, such as who it is for.

The headline and subheading are text in the image. Do not fill them with keywords. Write for the people who will read the image on the store page.

Choose a text colour that is easy to read on the background you picked. Then export the image and look at it at full size, because text that looks right on a large monitor can be hard to read on a phone.

## Making a set for every size

Apple allows up to 10 screenshots for each device size, and at least one is required. Google Play allows up to 8 screenshots for each device type, and at least two screenshots across device types are needed to publish.

This mobile app screenshot generator makes one image for each click. To build a set, repeat the steps for each screen and each size. Keep the same background, text colour and headline style across the set, so the images read as one set on the store page.

If your app runs on iPad, make the iPad 13-inch set as well. Pick the matching size from the list, and check that the export has no transparent area before you upload it.

## Generating app screenshots from your build pipeline

If you make screenshots for many builds or many apps, use the API. The engine's screenshot operation takes HTML as input, a viewport size and a pixel density. Set the viewport to the export size divided by the pixel density. Use a density of 3 for phone sizes and 2 for iPad, so the image comes out at the full export size.

API requests are asynchronous. Send a POST request to /v1/render with your API key, which you copy from the dashboard. You receive a job ID, then poll GET /v1/jobs/:id until the job shows succeeded, failed or timeout. The download link is short-lived, so download the file as soon as the job succeeds. Failed and timed-out jobs are refunded.

Webhooks are not available yet. Each request makes one image, so make one request for each image in your set. A simple render costs 1 credit when you are signed in. Credit costs are provisional until launch.

## Privacy: what happens to your picture

The free web tool does not need an account. Your picture is read and compressed in your browser. When you press the button, the page with your picture goes to our render server, which makes the image. The result is deleted after 10 minutes, and no history is kept.

Signed-in users skip the human check and use credits. Results from the API are kept for 1 day on the free plan, 7 days on Starter and Pro, and 30 days on Business.

Use only screenshots of your own app, or content you have the right to use. Our Acceptable Use Policy applies. The tool gives no legal advice about image rights, trademarks or store policies.

## Questions

### Is the app store screenshot generator free?

Yes. The web tool is free and needs no account. Anonymous use needs a human check, and signed-in users skip it and use credits. We add no watermark to the images.

### Which sizes can I export?

The tool exports the portrait sizes listed in the sizes section of this page, for the Apple App Store and Google Play. Check the store page before you upload, because store rules change.

### Do you use Apple or Google device images in the frame?

No. The device frame is drawn with plain CSS. It is not an Apple or Google device image.

### Does Apple accept transparent screenshots?

No. Apple says screenshots cannot include an alpha channel or transparency. The tool always draws a background, so the image has no transparent area.

### Should I export PNG or JPG?

Apple accepts .jpeg, .jpg and .png files. Google Play accepts JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha. Choose the format that the store accepts, and check the file before you upload it to your iOS or Android listing.

### Can I upload several screenshots at once?

The tool makes one image per click. Repeat the steps for each screen you want to show. Use the same background and headline style so the set looks consistent.

### Can I make the text in another language?

Yes. Change the headline and subheading, then export the image again. The tool has no batch mode for many languages, so each language is a separate set of exports.

### Is there a watermark on the images?

No. We add no watermark to the images that the tool exports.

### Will my screenshots pass store review?

The tool does not promise that a result passes store review. Store rules change, so read the store's screenshot rules before you upload.

### How many screenshots can I add for each size?

Apple allows up to 10 screenshots per device size, and at least one is required. Google Play allows up to 8 per device type, and at least two across device types are needed to publish.

### Can I make screenshots for iPad too?

Yes, if your app runs on iPad. Apple asks for the iPad 13-inch size in that case, so export it from the list. The tool's presets do not cover Apple's iPhone size requirement, so check App Store Connect.

### Do I need Photoshop or Figma to use this?

No. This ios screenshot generator runs in your browser. You type the text, pick the colours, add your screen and export the image without a design program.

### Is my screenshot uploaded to your servers?

Your picture is read and compressed in your browser. When you press the button, the page with the picture goes to our render server to make the image. Results are deleted after 10 minutes, and no history is kept.

### Can I use the API to make screenshots in a build pipeline?

Yes. Send the HTML with the screenshot operation, a viewport and a pixel density of 3 for phone sizes or 2 for iPad, then poll the job until it succeeds. Each request makes one image, and failed jobs are refunded.

### Does the tool give legal advice about images or store policies?

No. The tool gives no legal advice about image rights, trademarks or store policies. Use only screenshots of your own app, or content you have the right to use.
